Help us reach our neighbors!
Rock the Block is coming to Menasha, and we need volunteers to canvas the neighborhood, so families know about free home repair opportunities.
Flexible evenings/weekends • Jan 17–30
We have 6 applications—our goal is 25!

Please provide a meal for volunteers. 

**Dietary/Religious Restrictions:

Please be sensitive to our volunteers with special dietary or religious concerns. If you could provide a small variety of meal choices, that usually covers all dietary needs. We ask that you always have a small portion of a vegetarian entrée option available such as a salad or a vegetarian version of whatever you’re making such as chili, soup, lasagna, pizza, sandwiches, salads without bacon bits, meat, etc. Click here for our meal suggestions document.

When you set up, there is a table on site, as well as a cooler, and a roll of garbage bags. Lunch is typically a half-hour break, but it could run over depending on the situation. Feel free to clean up once everyone has finished eating and they return to work.

Donation Drivers and Assistants:
1. Operate the ReStore box truck to collect donated items from residences or businesses, carefully load the items into the truck, and transport them to the ReStore.
2.Assess the quality of donated items for acceptance based on ReStore guidelines.
3. Provide excellent customer service during donation pick-ups, representing the ReStore's values.
4. Must be able to lift 50 or more pounds.
5. Perform regular safety checks and basic maintenance on the truck (e.g., checking fluid levels). 
6. Have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

You must be 18 years old. Must be specially trained.
Reasonable accommodations will be provided.

Recycling volunteers:
1. Reduce the number of recyclable materials going to the landfill by sorting items down to their basic elements. Sorted recycled materials are stockpiled and transported to scrap dealers for resale.
2. Promote and maintain a safe, clean work environment 
3. Able to stand for extended periods of time
4. Be able to work independently 
5. Knowledge of power tool handling
6. Ability to examine and understand the item to be deconstructed

Recycling volunteers must go through training before their first shift - Must be at least 18 years of age
Reasonable accommodations will be provided.

Quality Control volunteers:

1. Identify items that need a little TLC in order make them sellable, items that can be recycled, and items that can be given to other organizations
2. Ability to use a variety of cleaning products to clean/sanitize donations
3. Ability to make minor repairs on donated items
4. Basic understanding of our pricing structure
5. Promote and maintain a safe and clean work environment.

Reasonable accommodations will be provided.

Merchandiser volunteers:
1. Greet and interact with customers in a friendly and helpful manner.
2. Be able to identify areas in need of restocking Identify items that have been on the salesfloor too long.
3. Help our customers with their questions about products, materials and sales promotions.
3. Take priced product from carts and place it in its respectful home on the sales floor.
4. Stock and face shelves
5. Advocate and share with customers what we do in the community.

Training is required for this volunteer role.

Cashiers:
1. Assist customers with their purchases through operating cash registers, processing credit card sales and misc. duties.
2. Volunteers must demonstrate good social skills and an ability to work with money.
3. Cashier volunteers receive full training and shadowing opportunities.

Special Projects Volunteers:

Customer service volunteers:
1. Greet and interact with customers in a friendly and helpful manner.
2. Help our customers with their questions and carry out purchases.
3. Take priced product from carts and place it in its respectful home on the sales floor.
4. Advocate and share with customers what we do in the community.

Shifts are flexible, willing to work with any availability.

Deconstruction Volunteers:
1. Carefully remove cabinets, doors, appliances, fixtures, and other reusable materials from homes or buildings.
2. Operate basic hand and power tools (e.g., drills, pry bars, saws) safely and efficiently.
3. Work as part of a team under the guidance of the supervisor.
4. Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required (e.g., gloves, safety glasses).

You must be 18 years old. Must be specially trained.

Donations Attendants:

1. Assist staff in the day-to-day activities of the ReStore backroom.
2. Greet the donors and be able to identify acceptable and unacceptable donations.
3. Assist in unloading donations and purchases from our donors and vendors.
4. Ability to use a variety of cleaning products to clean/sanitize donations.
5. Assist with pricing merchandise to place on the sales floor.
6. Assist with keeping the store clean and tidy by sweeping, vacuuming, mopping and dusting.
7. Promote and maintain a safe and clean work environment.

Cookie Bakers provide treats in recognition of our volunteers at ReStore.  Required ability to bake or purchase cookies and have a means of transportation to deliver them to ReStore between the hours of 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM, Monday through Saturday.
